Play Piano – There’s No Substitute for Exercise

There’s not any substitute for training. By spending a few hours you build a relationship with it.

You have to get a normal practice routine that has certain continuous elements (for instance, warm-up exercises) and changeable components that address your existing avenue of research. And doing does not count as training. Though playing gigs, performing to your pleasure or in Church is a vital part of your development, it will not replace time.

There are instances when you can’t keep a regular exercise regimen. The rest of the elements of your daily life bunch in and you discover you may need to catch an hour of exercise. It appears futile to set out on any clinic jobs that will require months or weeks of work, as you know that it will not occur.

So if you give up?

If you put the notion of enhancing your musicianship till you have more time (and so are you convinced time will come)? Here is an alternative – that I call it”goal bombing.”

You’ve got an hour. Find something to a clinic that is not in your toolbox. It might be a solo, a lick, a scale a part of a song, whatever. However, this is significant. Do not set an overall target (e.g., mastering the McCoy Tyner design of pentatonic scale improvisation). Rather, pick just a tiny bit of company (like a distinct pentatonic lick to be discovered from 12 keys). Assume this is the only chance you are going to need to learn that this product. You will move to something tomorrow.

Strategy the hour practice with this mindset: “What do I do within another hour to permanently improve my musicianship in a very small but quantifiable manner?”

More especially, “What do I do to learn this 1 thing so it will be self-reinforcing, so it will immediately start to appear in my real performances”

Your strategy would be to devour this one little thing.

Make it a one, When it is a lick and find out it. Workout the fingering.

Play with it over progressions that are arbitrary.

Solo within the operation and a few songs that lick wherever you can.

Practice it in 12 keys When it is a chord voicing, work it and be certain you can create transitions to and from.

You lose it if you do not get it from the end of the hour. But should you take it enough, then it will start to appear in your performances. It will develop into a little component of your personality and you will not ever lose it.

This is goal bombing. It is intense, concentrated, and could be satisfying and powerful. Even though initially it could be a way that you use since you can not find time to the conventional clinic, you might discover that it’s enjoyable and powerful which you make it the strategy.

In the end, a mountain climbs with tens of thousands of measures. Just take every step so nicely that you don’t even need to take it.

I have seen this strategy work wonders for pupils, and that I use it all of the time. I have also seen it fail. It needs a kind of tunnel vision, a willingness to gnaw without letting issues intrude.

You may feel like you’re playing when you need to be working or focusing on a very small area isn’t productive when there are many significant places to be coated. But after you aim to bomb a couple of items, you are going to understand the needlessness of your concerns.

Anyhow, try on this technique – determine if it matches your personality
